Some years back when I had a 1.9D with cable clutch.
The pedal was so heavy my leg also did an impresion of Popeyes arm after spinach !

I found the cable was really stiff - from new they have teflon liners for smooth action but over time the liner wears so you either buy new or lubricate.

I removed the cable, flushed with diesel then lubed with oil - much better - then I filled the auto adjuster with molygrease.

When I took the cable off I was appalled by the route it took, tortuous is the best description !
Take a look if you don't believe me.
Anyway a cable works best when working in a straight line so I chose to reroute the cable.
I let the cable find a smooth natural curve to the left inner wing and also over the top of everything as it made its way to the clutch arm.

Wow what a difference both actions made, had the van for a further 60k miles and all good after.

I will say that the M59 cable clutch is generally heavy by hydraulic standards so don't expect a miracle it will never be as good as hydraulic but it is possible to make it acceptable given the design limtations.

What vehicle did you have before the Berlingo - out of interest.
