Van help...
#1
Hello all,

New to the forum with hope that someone will be able to offer some advice regarding a Citroen Berlingo van I'm considering.

I'm in the market for a van which will be used for a new business working with dogs. The plan is to insulate, kit out with fans etc and crash tested crates. I've settled on a smaller LWB van which should fit my needs.

I don't know much about vans and never bought one before but I have narrowed it down to a few, with one being the Berlingo below.

Citroen Berlingo - Auto Trader Vans - New and Used Vans For Sale

This doesn't have much history apart from a service in 2022 at 40k miles. The MOT history seems good. Apparently it was part of a company fleet who was bought out by another company and has been hardly been used for the last two years which the MOT history would confirm. The seller has said it has likely been serviced prior but no records of this.

I just wondered if anyone had some advice regarding the vehicle as a whole and anything to look out for? I've read about the 1.6 hdi issues and I believe this will be the 8v version.

Would you still consider it based on the history?

Any comments welcome!

Thanks,

Ben.

8v 1.6 is better.
Early hdis were problematic but things got sorted fairly soon after so a B9 would be pretty good bet
If there's no history of a cambelt change the you would need to get that done.
It is on my to do list.
But not right at the top

Not at that age and mileage.

BlueHdi indicates it has the dreaded Adblue urea system. While it is good for emissions and some emissions grade may be required on your area, the Peugeot / Citroen implementation is not trouble free.

Thanks for all the replies. Being steered away from it based on what I've read and what people are saying!
