Disabled car fuel refilling
#1
I have a disability Berlingo, and I needed to fully refuel for a long journey, so I filled it with diesel until the pump went click. When I went into pay, the attendant pointed out that fuel was coming out from the rear of the car, and it was quite a lot. So much the garage did not want me to drive off and covered the fuel with sand. After ten minutes or so it stopped leaking. Start Rescue came out and could not find anything amiss, but only from what he could see. He mentioned that he seemed to remember that because of the changed configuration of the fuel tank and pipes, that disability Berlingos did not like being filled to the top, and this could possibly be why, and advised me to get it checked on a ramp. Has anyone heard anything about problems like this when refilling a disability car ? Would appreciate any advise, thank you.

Most cars have an overflow pipe but that's for when you go over the rim
The fact that it stopped and the rescue guy couldn't find anything is reassuring for short term.
I'd get it checked out
Fill the tank beforehand.
It is on my to do list.
But not right at the top

You probably overfilled the fuel tank I had a C3 that did that if I overfilled the tank fuel came out of the breather pipe underneath.

I fill my WAV Berlingo until it clicks and it has never leaked out like yours.

Its the first I've heard of this and don't think its anything to do with the way the tank and pipework is fitted. If this is common thing then there would have been a recall . Cant have berlingo leaking fuel over the forecourts because of someone over filling their tank. Possibly a breather pipe loose or popped off

Ass Evdama says get it checkeed out.

Better to be safe and get it checked. I'm not in a WAV, but, I go until the pump clicks, and don't top up further like some other people do, even when I did, I've never had an issue with fuel running out somewhere else.

That would be my first guess. Something in the filler neck area that's cracked\broken\popped off.
