Stereo upgrade recommendation

Hi folks,

Having finally got fed up of listening to Radio 2 on long drives, I'd like to upgrage my cassette radio to a unit with an aux connection and a CD player, so I can combine my love of early 2000s technology.

My question is: what unit would be easiest/most convenient to upgrade to? Could I even buy a second hand unit such as this, and install it reasonably hassle free (for a novice)?

Any advice on adapter kits etc also greatly appreciated.

Did you have any luck finding much info on replacing stereo?
I’m looking to do the same, but ideally for a usb and/or Bluetooth. Currently have the one in mine that you linked. But I only get about 5 stations (it may not help get me more, but worth a try before replacing aerial cable).

Hi there,

No nothing unfortunately. I've seen other threads on here but it seems with the adapter kits you lose function of the steering hub radio control and the clock/display unit thing. I also wouldn't mind the blutooth function/usb (or even aux) as you do, but if it's easier just to have the CD player I can manage!

If anyone on these forums can advise us I'd be really grateful.

An update on this:

I found a replacement head unit on ebay which was the same model and date as the one currently in my van, only with a CD player instead of a casette deck. It was uncoded, so all I had to do was swap them over and it worked straight away. It was super easy.
