Hi everyone. My 2007 1.6HDi Berlingo van and I, are now living in France. We've been together for nearly 13 years, but since moving here, things have become a bit costly. My old girl has recently failed her CT( French MOT) for the airbag light, which has now been repaired, but there was an advisory for suspension arms. I spoke briefly to my French mechanic about it and he told me if I choose to fix them, I'll need 4. Has anyone done this? I don't mistrust him, but since moving here 2 years ago I've now spent around 3.5k euros on my old girl. Not that I begrudge it, because I simply couldn't manage without her, I'd just like some idea of what to expect and I don't want to lose anything in translation. Do I definitely need 4 and has anyone any idea of cost?

There are two types of control arm - a pressed steel version with a removable lower ball joint or the cast iron version with integral non removable ball joint (like fitted to mine).
Quality OEM brands (TRW / Corteco etc) are ~€50 each from Autodoc of Germany (where I buy all my parts). There are two arms required but it's prudent to probably change the drop links and anti roll bar bushes whilst the car is in bits.
Fitment is super quick and easy on these Berlingo's and shouldn't cost much in labour, max 4 hours for a garage.
I'd be little concerned about the amount you've spent so far - Berlingo's are basic van based vehicles that are simple to repair. Without knowing how much work you've had done I'd be possibly questioning if the garage/mechanic has your best interests at heart.

Can't figure out why you're being told you need 4 suspension arms?
