which radio?

my 1.9d 2004 berlingo didnt have a radio/CD when I bought it and it is on my to do list. I have just been reading some past radio threads and it seems pretty important to get the right one in order to make the display, steering column controls work correctly, or just make the rest of the car not go haywire! (no pun intended) I have no experience of this, although I know a little of tracing wiring and reading diagrams. Could someone point me in the right direction please to find which models are suitable? I have seen a list on a thread of all the possible radio/ citroen combinations but I cant make sense of it. I guess the obvious answer is to go to a specialist or citroen but I would prefer to learn it for myself if possible.

I have a Sony something or another and after buying the wiring adaptor it works fine. Mine does not support the MFD (you had to pay extra for that) but as I tell the radio what to do I didn't feel the need for it to tell me what it was doing...I would get the remote compatable version next time though
