Help needed berlingo problem

Hi. I have a berlingo van 2004 1.9D. When I'm engine breaking or accelerating its fine but when I'm crusing on a long straight road it cuts off n I bounce down the road! It only does it when I rest my foot on the accelerator.
On tick over it drops down to 3 then it smokes and it keeps doing it. When I looked at the pipes coming off the diesel pump to the engine there looks like its got air in them coursing it to drop onto 3
Does anyone know what can be coursing this to happen?

Sounds like air leaks into fuel system , check in the forum for fuel/air leak problems , it'll give you an idea of the causes:justno:
