I was considering a tow bar recently when looking at bike rack options so was curious. I don't imagine it is rocket science though (famous last words)

Looking at what is needed for a basic trailer using a 7 pin plug, I guess you just take feeds from existing wires. In a van I would have thought that the wiring loom is fairly easy to access. No doubt there is more to it than this!
1, Yellow = L/H Indicator
2, Blue = Fog Light
3, White = Earth
4, Green = R/H Indicator
5, Brown = R/H Tail Light
6, Red = Brake Lights
7, Black = L/H Tail Light

You may find that the wiring on modern vehicles is a bit more involved and that some of the lighting circuits are controlled by an ECU or ECM and as such you will have to wire your towbar socket through one of these otherwise you will damage your vehicle's electrics.

diagram looks right to me
on the transit i pulled out the rear light with the reversing light on it, and connected onto all them wires
worked perfect
well my transit wasnt that old 2004, but i will look into what you sed
had a look and and they can be wired to the lights on the 2006 so mine is the same

Hey mate. Are you planning to piggy back off one of the tail lights to feed for the towbar?
