Hi all ,
After trying to access an old ebay account and not getting anywhere i decided to forget the old account and just use my normal one.
Now problems accessing my normal account begin . Will not accept my passwords until after several attempts, Then wants to verify its really me , ( It really is me )
After having to get an security number for access ebay says is sending a security number to my email address. It never arrived .
Thinking something wrong with my email address I reinstall the email address to Thunderbird. Still no number or email so use the phone number option which finally gets a number.
I enter the number then it says I must provide two government issued photos which shown my name for verification of my identity.
Wonder if ebay knows what I look like to compare them with ?
Now I've had enough and close it all down.
Is all this an elaborate scam or is this normal for someone trying to open an ebay account, (which I'm not, just trying to access an existing one )
If so then hello " AliExpress "
Any thoughts would be welcome

I opened a new ebay account at the start of the year, and I was never asked for any photos (I wouldn't have gone through with it if they had - why would they need to know what I look like?). So I'd be very suspicious - sounds like could be scammers trying to get copies oif personal documents..

Tried again 5 mins ago and got in no problems.
notsofast , That's why I did no carry on after being asked for photos , looked very professional and there is enough data on me out there .
So it was a EITHER a SCAM or a glitch in the system somewhere , STRANGE !!!
Just changed the pword just in case

Take no chances , go in to your ebay AC change your password , it's so easy to get your info from other sites build on that then trick you to give more than you need to , then take over your AC , then open other thing in your name, i would change all your password on other AC , play it safe .

Ali express is attractive but it's the wild West of the bunch- no protection whatsoever.
Pre brexit I did get some reasonable bargains without trouble, but since then the sellers for the sort of stuff I buy (small engine +parts) either won't ship to UK or ramp up the costs.
Temu has some bargains but don't get sucked in- go back and compare with ebay.
There's Shein and Joom to add now too.
Even then I find sometimes Amazon prime will beat the lot of them and it's there next day
And whatever you do do not get the app for any of them
I had to do a factory reset on my wife's phone.
It was running hot and using up battery crazy style. There were Temu markers in every part of the Android system .
Data mining.
It is on my to do list.
But not right at the top

I'd like to get into my original acc with ebay but cant access it now but I do keep an eye on any money from my bank going to ebay. Frightened about having to go through all the palaver again if it demands more photos etc.
I did have some problems a while ago with Ali express , missing parcel (which I think was evri s , fault.) I eventually got the money back but has made me wary of them.
Didn't know about Shien or Joom but have seen Temu before. Havent tried them but I do like amazon and ebay , I find things on there that for a rural body like me are a goldmine for things I cant get locally.

Small town gives equal frustration -I seldom get what I need locally and if I do it's double the cost.
Buying cheap from China is certainly putting local commerce out of business but were they that committed anyway?
I got a chainsaw chain sharpening machine from AE for 25 quid delivered.Enquiry locally just got confused looks and the offer of a round hand-file.
Screw /Tool/Fixation are pretty good if a bit priced up but I can collect the items usually within minutes and be greeted on first name terms.
Halfords got one trailer number plate out of me in the last 30 years but nothing else -they're a joke.
It is on my to do list.

Don't forget Wickes, the thing is you need time to hunt around, better prices can be found, with Temu China wants all your data the app will look through your phone know where you are what your doing, then one day they will flick the switch we will all be blind and be at their bidding. Then you get the car insurance apps, put that on your phone !! you then can be tracked where you are going at what speed stop start at the lights , would i put a banking app on my phone nooooo can you imagine Temu looking at your bank AC too take your money when they need it then shut down the banking system , think that one over .
