Limp mode after warmed engine
#1
2004 2.0 Siemens HDI 90
After a significant revision of the engine the car now has a problem with limp mode activating

If the engine is cold it takes about 2 minutes of time or heavy acceleration to activate limp mode, if it is even slightly hot it will be activated until significant cooldown

All sensors and electrical plugs are plugged in
From the slight amount of driving i have done out of limp mode the car drives and accelerates great, so it seems like no true mechanical issue.
My car is a 2.0 that is not compatible with common obd2 device. A diagbox is needed, wich i do not have

I suspected the EGR at first, so together and separately i disconnected the MAF sensor and the EGR valve solenoid after resetting the ECU - no difference
I know running without a MAF sensor will not cause limp mode as i have driven the same car whiteout a MAF before and this never caused limp mode
this seems unlikely anyway as the EGR vacuum lines where disconnected before disassembly without any problems

I then suspected the camshaft sensor as it was shaffed because it was previously placed to close to the camshaft sprocket
if my understanding of this sensor is correct it checks the position of the camshaft compared to the crankshaft, wouldn't this mean that it would immediately throw an error as soon as the engine running?? I am replacing it anyway, but i don't think this will fix the limp mode at all.

glow plugs are not connected currently but this seems irrelevant

I am seriously considering getting a diagbox but the price is €150 for me, there are cheaper €40 ones to be found on AliExpress but i do not really trust these (anyone have experience with these?)

any info is greatly appreciated, kind regards
