Iceland Trip and modifications
#1
hi, I am thinking of driving to Iceland next year in a 2018 multi space  automatic Berlingo.Obviously not doing any thing to severe, but some of the roads do look a bit rough and I want to minimise damage and ensure safety. What if any modifications would people consider, I'm not mechanically minded, but is it worth considering a skid plate, all season tires changes to suspension etc or should I just leave it as it isn.Any specifics in terms of brands or links would be appreciated. We've just returned from a trip to Slovakia, and it held up well although the boot jump needed a few minor repairs afterwards, so in terms of the inside and sleeping in it works well. Hope I have put this in the right thread, apologies if I have a made mistake. Any advice whatsoever appreciated.

Iceland is just the other side of town next to B&Q
I've never needed more than a quick glance at the fuel gauge
Selected pizzas are on offer 8 for £10 btw
It is on my to do list.
But not right at the top

I would get A/T or H/T tires for turning off the road but these may not be available in Berlingo size. The rocks can be quite sharp over there.

Second on that, tires with good puncture resistance, including the sidewalls.

Driving to Iceland?

I'd suggest a decent set of pontoons, and possibly an outbord motor.

Possibly also navigation lights, life jackets and an EPIRB.

;-)

Don't bother with all-season tires. If you get into an area where those are needed you've already been off-course way too long.
Grab a pair of aluminium 'sand ladders' and some rope. (Tie one end of a rope to each ladder, and the other ends to the car when you use them. That way you don't have to stop immediately to collect them after getting unstuck)
