Hi
I have a 57 plate Enterprise 75, Jan 2008.
Unfortunately I had to give up work for health reasons late 2020 and the van has been left to stand a lot. If I had any sense I would have sold it before now, but here we are and I'm looking for people's opinions.
Bad points
1. Gear Selection has gone stiff and would need sorting. I'm told this is to do with the linkages
2. It's sign written
3. No MOT obviously
Good
1. 68,000 miles
2. Cambelt and water pump renewed within last few hundred miles with original parts (have invoice)
3. New heater matrix just before I stopped using it (over £500 job)
Would seem a shame to scrap it, but the options as I see it are
1. Scrap
2. Try to sell it to the motor trade
3. Risk money straightening it out and selling privately.
Heeeeeelp!
Many thanks
Owen

If you can stretch to putting the van through an MOT it would help the selling price a LOT !
Sounds like it “ should “ pass without any work needing to be done.
If it passes then great !
If not you have a list of issues that will still make it more saleable as folks will know the extent of any issues.
Getting to the MOT without insurance ?
How much does a days insurance cost ?
I won’t advise you to take a chance just driving it for obvious reasons quite apart from all the ANPR cameras out there!
Good luck with it …

Sounds like a good idea.
You need insurance.
But you don’t need tax to drive to a pre-booked MoT.
Technically though I’m not sure you’re allowed to drive it home if it fails.
If it fails then I think you’re supposed to take it somewhere to be repaired.
Depending on how mechanically minded you are there’s quite a lot you can do prior to the MoT in order to reduce the chance of a fail.

You are entitled to drive your car home from the MOT if it fails as long as it is roadworthy and drive able AND the very next journey is to get it back to the retest.
You are also able to legitimately call at the petrol station on these journeys.
If the car parts shop is on your way home ie not taking the piss out of your way it is also acceptable to call in to collect the parts for repair on the way home.
Above comes from my MOT man and confirmed by my insurance company ( about three years back )

It's the question of the gears being so stiff you can only just change. If it's linkages I don't know what that might cost to fix, as against what I might be able to sell it for.

"You are entitled to drive your car home from the MOT if it fails as long as it is roadworthy....."
The official source says the following. Interpret it as you will though I did think you could take it home and/or to a garage to get repaired -
"Driving a vehicle that’s failed
You can take your vehicle away if:
your current MOT is still valid
no ‘dangerous’ problems were listed in the MOT
Otherwise, you’ll need to get it repaired before you can drive.
If you can take your vehicle away, it must still meet the minimum standards of roadworthiness at all times."

Now a 2019 K9 1.2 petrol.
Before a 2010 B9 1.6 HDi diesel.
