Berlingo 2019 Flair XL Auto
#1
Not sure if this is in the right forum, admin please move if not!

I'm considering buying one of these cars, it's done almost 40k miles. The dealer is asking £17k, it's in pretty good condition exterior (one or two superficial scratches) although interior is a bit tatty and I will be making sure they address this before purchase.

Did this model have any problems with roof rails or seals leaking - there looks to be a mark along a length of the headlining over the front seats which I'm not sure is just dirt or a water mark.

Are the diesel engines noisy/rattly?  I detected a bit of noise on the first half of my test drive which seemed to disappear after it had warmed up, not sure if this is normal or not.

Is there anything I should be aware of?  Thanks in advance

I was impressed by my k9, it suits my needs just right, I really thought Citroën had turned a corner to being a good company. I got my k9 new, the dealer in the UK was shockingly bad, apparently no different from the majority of Citroën dealers, up to a few weeks ago the car was reliable, but it has only done 20k , now additive problem, this coupled with the annoying niggles, Lane departure you cant default off, auto lights and wipers that don't work, impending engine problems due to a design fault, all with a company that is one of the worst I have ever dealt with. I won't be having another berlingo, don't know want the alternative is, just not Citroën...

Interested to hear what the impending engine problems are?  I think you'll find most manufacturers are the same - can't do enough for you when buying, but after sales don't want to know.

As a taxi driver who had two B9 and now a K9 with 237K on it i can say that it has been generally very good and reliable. Sure there is issues but most diesels regardless of ma manufacturer now has these issues due to euro standards.

Other than normal service items i have had the following issues

strut top mounts replaced at 50k
adblue injector replaced at 59k
Waterpump (bearing issue) plus belt kit at 59k
Adblue tank @ 65k (no further issues since replacement)
Cambox seals at 175k
EGR clogger & cooler blocked @ 235k (EGR cleaned and still functioning correctly, cooler was replaced @ cost of £1400 (£540 for cooler plus 6 hours labour was issue getting subframe dropped)

The big issue i would say from my pov as a distance driver is the DPF. Every 120k miles approx it throws up a warning for DPF worn. It is actually because it is full of ash. You are left with the decision to clean (does not work for long) or to replace. Replacements now are 1400 quid plus fitting as new ones must be coded by citroen to the ECU.

Thanks for reply, I guess adblue issues must be pretty common in modern diesels.  Did you ever try any anti crystallisation additive - wondering if they actually work as a preventative measure?
Re. the DPF - so this happens regardless of distance driving?

Re. the DPF - so this happens regardless of distance driving?
Modern diesels with their DPFs and AdBlue systems are definitely NOT suited to anyone who is only going to do low mileage, short journeys. Basically if you are going to only use a vehicle for short runs/low mileage and are not giving the vehicle a good run at speed regularly the DPF will clog very quickly, a lot quicker than the 120k that the previous reply mentioned and as stated DPFs are costly to replace.

I've had diesels for the last decade, but not one with adblue.  I don't often do short journeys so hopefully okay
