Halp, me van had died :(
#1
Was bobbing along, all was fine.
then suddenly, all revs lost.
whats wrong, with this van of mine?

No smoke, no noise.. engine cut out, warning of malfunction or something along those lines on screen. crank no start. stranded at the side of the road. Fudge.

Cambelt slipped / snapped? was hoping for some better weather to whip the cover off and have a look, but in the meantime gave it a scan. not sure if a snapped belt will throw up these faults or if its all just electrical.. but theres the list..

p2291 - starting monitoring. high pressure fuel circuit fuel pressure rise time too long

p0344 - camshaft position. signal invalid

p003d - camshaft position. signal not detected

p0016 - synchronisation. lack of coherence between the engine speed sensor and the camshaft position sensor

05ff - unexpected re-initialisation fault coming from the bsi

0eb3 - diesel additive pump control

p0eb0 - additive tank

I know that it cant be simply diagnosed here, but any suggestions of things to look for welcome (grasping at straws really, not the best time of year!!!)

Do you have a record of when the cambelt was changed?

It should have been done by now in accordance with the guidance on mileage.

Also, lot’s of weird s**t happens if you get water ingress into the fusebox/BSI.
I think the initial check I’d to check the legs of the fuses in the fusebox in the engine bay. Not sure if it’s related to your faults but a fairly easy check.

Search this forum for ingress and you should some info on this issue.

It was supposed to have been changed when i bought it. So, around 18 months ago at 130k

I'll have a search on forum about water ingress while waiting for the weather to settle ?

My cambelt tensioner was at its limit at less than 60k
Fuel and camshaft codes together are suggesting the worst -hope not. ...
It is on my to do list.
But not right at the top

update: cause of failure was the tensioner sheared off, suspected over tightening when it was replaced 4 - 5k ago. ffs, going to be hard to argue my case after 18 months since buying Sad

need to order some new parts and im just wondering if anyone knows if the camshaft is any different between the 1.6 hdi 90 and the blue hdi 100?
