Key fob
#1
I have a 2002 Berlingo and my car keeps locking when the doors are open and know one is touching the keys.
Does anyone have an answer? could it be the battery running out or something else?
thanks.

When you state the 'car keeps locking when the doors are open' do you mean when the doors are physically open then the doors lock, or do you mean if the doors are unlocked [but physically shut] after a time they lock themselves?

If you mean the latter, then that is normal for the vehicle, it is a 'safety' feature, in that after a period of time if you haven't locked the doors [but they are all physically closed] the doors lock themselves, as it assumes you have forgotten to lock the vehicle. I think over the years it has probably caught out many owners, who have manged to lock  themselves out of their vehicle.

I think there is a way of disabling it but it might be only through using a 'lexia' type box to turn off the option in the software.

I was putting shopping in the back of the car, so the tailgate was open and it kept locking the car doors.

You are leaning on your keys in your pocket as you reach in?

Okay, easy way to check whether it is the key fob or something else going on. When at home open the car and then get another family member to take the keys far away [say inside your house] and you wait by the car and see if it still locks itself.

The keys were on the floor in the back so noone was touching them.
