Has anyone ever prepped a Berlingo for a trip to Spain / Morocco. One to go on some more adventurous roads or tracks that would be suitable for a 2WD vehicle rather than a fully fledged off road vehicle.

I have a 1.6 XTR as well but love the idea of an older Berlingo, maybe it's just a day dream.
I've had mine down a few rough tracks as well closer to home however the under tray wasn't on mine when I bought it.

I used to drive my Berlingo (Partner Tepee Outdoor) to Spain, but only Barcelona and Tossa de Mar. I think if you don't want to go to anywhere remote, just travel on the roads, it is OK. But if you want to do something off-road, I think maybe a Dangel 4x4 version will be better if you can find one, or maybe you can try SUVs. When I was travelling in Skye, My van was nearly trapped, even it is the outdoor version, just like the XTR Berlingo with higher ground clearance and underside engine protection plate. If trapped on a hill I tried to reverse a little bit with gravity, and when the front wheel can touch the ground then you can drive. Otherwise you can try something like recovery board/traction board, I didn't tried them but I've heard that maybe this will work, although maybe a little bit expensive.

Your XTR should handle it fine for rough tracks. Get an undertray fitted if you can, pack a spare fuel can, recovery boards, and some basic spares. Give it a service before you go, and don’t forget your insurance docs and maybe an International Driving Permit for Morocco.
