Hi, I have a 2002 Berlingo and want to know how easy is it to change the oil sump? as the sump plug was cross threaded and a friend had to put silicon on the plug to stop it leaking.
Thanks

Is it easy to get out and how would I empty the oil from it?

Drain the oil via the drain plug
Its just a metal pan bolted to the underside of the engine block.
There will be some left to clean up afterwards.
Dont attempt to reuse it.
It will have served as a good flush out.
Bottle it up and take it to the recycling centre.
Make sure the new sump pan is perfectly clean and refit it with a new gasket and new copper washer on the plug.
Id be inclined to get a new one of those as well in case the old one is damaged.
It is on my to do list.

Can you tell me if the cluch is in the way, as a friend told me that whan he tried to remove mine he said that he could'nt to all of the bolts?
Without looking I cant say but it cannot be an insurmountable challenge.
Is he the same one who crossthreaded the plug by any chance....
It is on my to do list.

If you've got the 1.6hdi, the sump pan from the Ford 1.6 tdci is a direct swap, at least for me it was.
Genuine Ford was half the price. But you might need an 8mm allen key for when you change the oil in future.
