Hi All,
I have a berlingo multi space 1.6hdi 2014
I had it serviced a couple of weeks ago, the day after I started getting warnings on the dash of oil pressure fault.
So I went back to garage he put the computer on and said the oil level sensor had gone, fair enough got that changed.
Started the car the next day and same fault came up, so off I went again and they were going to strip the sump until the manager said it could be the oil filter….
He explained that the oil filter for this engine has a nipple that makes a connection with a sensor and aftermarket filters have smaller nipples that don’t properly make the connection he also said they have had a batch that have these nipples.
So he changed the oil filter all seemed ok until I started the car to come to the hospital and the display said to top up the oil.
Does this with the oil filter sound true to you guys, is this an issue anyone has come across?
Thanks
John

I was told once that if the filter was not installed properly , ie the nipple end fitted upside down or not into the nipple hole, it can result in low oil pressure. Whether its true or not I cant say , but if so was your oil filter fitted properly during the service?.
I haven't heard about a bad batch of filters , may be so or was it just a story to cover up the filter was fitted wrongly?.
The low oil warning could be just that , the oil getting a little bit low after the oil filter changes.
Top up the oil and keep a watch for oil leaks.

Top up the oil and keep a watch for oil leaks. Hi,
Thanks for the reply.
Yeah your right, I think the problem with the oil filter has been solved because the original message on the dash said oil pressure fault, since the new oil filter was fitted that fault has stopped coming up.
Now I get the message top up oil, but it disappears a few seconds after the ignition is on, I don’t even need to start the engine.
So I checked the oil level and it’s just under the max mark so I know that’s not the problem.
It’s had a new oil level sensor so it’s not that.
I’ve read online about an oil level reset procedure so I’m going to let the car settle overnight and do the procedure before I start the engine.
I’ll post an update if it works.

Quick update, the procedure didn’t make any difference.
Back to more research ?

"It’s had a new oil level sensor so it’s not that."
I've made that assumption before, and, yes it was that.
Genuine? Or aftermarket?
Also there are a few plugs that I've managed to get mixed up on the 1.6hdi16v, so might be possible.
Good luck.

The filter housing would not accept the filter upside down as the nipple is too tall.
Ive seen bulk deals of five chinese filters for pocket change on ebay-steer well clear.
I wonder where these garages get theirs.............
The genuine part number is 1109AY ( which is actually a MAHLE OX171/2D1 in a Citroen/ Peugeot box if you want to save a couple of quids)
It is on my to do list.
But not right at the top

The nipple on the filter is to plug the housing drain hole. There is no sensor for that.
If the nipple did not plug the hole, the drain hole effectively drops the oil pressure. Fingers crossed that nothing serious damage was done by allowing the customer to drive under reduced oil pressure ?
