[Engine] 1.6 16v fuel pump issue

Twice recently I've had an issue when warm starting where it'll run for a second then cut out. Then further attempts to start fail and it just turns over. On both occasions I've fixed it by removing and reseating the fuel pump fuse - it then started first time. I got two weeks of reliable daily driving between incidents.

I couldn't see any corrosion on the fuse or the box contacts. The contacts on the top of the fuse maybe look a bit brown, but I can't see how that could be a problem. From what I understand the fp relay is built into the fuse box, and is not serviceable.

My question is whether this is a known issue that is a symptom of something about to break permanently?

Re seating the fuse could be resetting a fault with the pump/pump circuit perhaps

Have you tried a new fuse?

Could be possible that the original fuse has an internal hairline crack that is opening up when warm, removing and replacing the fuse is flexing it and the crack is them making a contact again.... a long shot, but you never know.

Maybe removing & replacing the fuse is flexing the fuse box / some connection enough to get it to work again.

If you don't have Lexia, you will be guessing.
For what it's worth, mine needs a wiggle of the crank sensor's plug, when It starts to hiccup every other month.
If either the crank sensor or cam sensor stop talking, you will be walking.

Thinking about it, I did have a duff fuse on another car that caused much irritation with an intermittent fault.
