[Engine] Limp mode, no other symptoms.
#1
Hi all, wondering if anyone has any thoughts for me.
My 07 1.6hdi has me baffled. For a while it was having the occasional hiccough while driving, sometimes a few on each journey, sometimes none over miles and miles.
This them developed into the engine light coming on and going into limp mode, more regularly and more frequently.

I am still driving it and managing it by changing gear which temporarily restores full power, sometimes for the rest of the journey.

Got a code reader and lots of codes coming up suggesting egr issues so I replaced this. Egr related codes have now gone but the problem remains.

Tried driving it with the maf unplugged but engine light came back and stayed on with limp mode occuring occasionally.

Only code now is p1351 and suggesting glow plugs or gp relay which doesn't make much sense.

Running fine apart from limp mode, no issues starting, idling or under power.

Has been serviced (by me) in the last year.

Any thoughts?

It is written that the p1351 code is often present on symptom free engines so you could ignore that for now .
It is on my to do list.
But not right at the top

It might be two different things.
Mine does the same hiccup, occasionaly, which gets more often.
It's caused by either the cam or crank sensors not talking to the engine management.
For me, a quick wiggle of the crank sensor plug sorts it for a month or three.
But I don't think it will put the engine light on.

Pleased to say the problem has been sorted by replacing the accelerator pedal and brake switch. Codes from local garage very helpful, should have gone there early doors and saved a lot of grief
