Eolys problem
#1
Hi,

I had the engine malfunction / diesel additive error come on at 113k miles.

Topped up the tank but I cannot for the life of me get rid of the error.

I’ve used my autel to tell the van it’s been refilled, that it’s had a new tank and basically every other option. The pump works as I can hear it priming, which has been done about 4 times now. I’ve also been into both diagnostic options (errors are shown both in the BSI and the engine ECU and performed all options in there.

Yet every time I fill the van with diesel, the error comes back.

Anyone else had this?

I had a very quick look at the fcf
Theres lots of posts and they are are all using different devices but one thing that caught my attention was the current fuel level when attempting to reset and ten litres was mentioned.

The only way to confirm that is to carry out the pump flow test, which runs the pump for a while, as you catch the fluid from the pump outlet.

It's entirely possible to have a pump that ticks away merrily without actually moving any fluid.

IIRC that's the threshold for the system to add more fluid. If the leel has changed by a signific ant amount, it then triggers the pump to add more, how much is based on how much the tank level has changed between the last switch off and the next switch on.

Reseting the eolys additive ecu might be somewhat problematic on B9, as Diagbox also needs a certain bugfixed version to be able to do it. I’d try with some other diagnostic tool, if/as your current is failing.

This is the output of the pump when priming. Seems a very very slow flow but I’m not sure if that’s normal?

Doesn't look bad.

The measure is c. 20ml for the duration of the test.

This appears to be fixed now, done a few fill ups and no more light.

I repeated all the steps I did previously and additionally ran the two tests available in my Autel for the eolys, both of which reported a pass.
