Fuel filter change
#1
Just got a quote to do some work and wondering if I could do some myself?  Not changing the battery it’s fine. Is changing the fuel filter a hard job lads?

Its the most basic tools needed

Getting the filter in and out from under the bulkhead is tight but doable for most people.
Sometimes the primer button doesnt do its job and you have a job to get things flowing again without running the injector system with no fuel in it.
Sometimes it works first time

This guy does good videos

Try to get the filter full of fuel before reassembly then attempt to syringe some into the pipework before reconnecting before going to the lengths that he does in the vid

But first Id look at finding another garage -you are paying a lot more than our main dealer would even dare to charge
It is on my to do list.
But not right at the top

I know aussie dollars aren't real money, but that fuel filter price seems wrong.

For example, https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/194234106347

The prices are generally screwy. Replacing the filter on an hdi Berlingo is a trivial job in comparison to changing the CV boot.

The main thing to remember with the fuel filter [which I'm sure you are aware of] is to keep the area extremely clean to avoid any debris getting in the filter or associated pipes. The fuel filters I have bought in the past for the 1.6Hdi and 2.0Hdi engines all came with a set of plastics caps to put over pipes as they were removed to stop and contamination of the system.
