B9 panel van footwell access - cutting blanking panel

As per the subject I want to create acess hatches to the passenger footwell both sides. 

I found this post https://www.berlingoforum.com/thread-18544.html which is the same idea. 

I would like to keep the threaded mounts for the sake of the ply liner I intend to reinstall. 

I thought to drill out the spot welds front and back, then cut the panel to free the sections like this sort of idea:
