Oil filter change

Hi all, need some help. I am doing an oil and filter change on my 2010 Mk 3 with an HDi 110 motor. I have the filter and cap out but the filter is still attached to the plastic cap. Is there a fastener that holds it at the top of the cap??? Looks like there is a plastic nut, then a rubber gasket and then the top of the oil filter cap. Any info GREATLY appreciated. PK7478 any advice?? I put the old filter assembly back in for the time being.

No. There's no any fastener
Just rotate filter element and pull it outside from cap. If it's not help. Use a little bit force to pull out , but not so much

It' very bad that you put back plastic cap, because every time you remove and put it back again,
you must replace rubber ring.

Don't forget to clean plastic cap in a clean(pure - i don't know how to say it in English) diesel fuel or special spray for cleaning of surfaces.

Many, many thanks PK7478. That's good to know. I pulled on it pretty hard but no luck. Will give it another try.

During pulling out it from cap, rotate in both directions.

Got all the oil pumped out - works great and got the filter off and replaced. I was just too wimpy trying to pull the filter off. Didn't want to damage anything Added 3.25l of Total Quartz ineo ecs 5W30 and all is well with the world. Noch mals, vielen Dank PK. Du bist wirklich erste Klasse.
