Coolant

2011 1.6hdi 

Car runs at normal temperature , heater works fine blows hot air

Coolant in the reservoir seems cold , can easy put a finger in and its cold.

But the engine seems too hot, like it smells really hot.

Oil at correct level.

Any advice?

Could be the water pump not circulating the water in the system correctly if it is getting too hot
