DV6B was running then cut out, Will crank but not start

Hey guys. My dad was driving the berlingo tonight and as he was coming up a big hill and as he got onto the flat it cut out and would not restart. Cranks healthy and it sounds like there is compression but its dry like no fuel is being delivered at all. The primer pump at the engine does have diesel in it and there are no diesel leaks and it has half a tank. Pulled the inlet off the turbo and spritzed a bit of brake clean in it and it did run though not very happily for a second or 2. So it has to be fuel or a totally knackered crank position sensor I think, but im very open to seeing what you fine people have to say it may or may not be.

Firstly, I would check there is no vacuum in the fuel tank so take of the filler cap. Also check the fuel filter as it might need changing and you can see if it is full of fuel.

I did try that but what i found was the auxiliary belt has separated with some of it wrapped tightly behind the crank pulley so the trigger wheel is damaged or just the crank sensor.
