Rear disks and increasing ride height

I am sure i have seen this some where....

I would like to fit disk brakes to my M49, simply because they are more convenient...

I am sure i read you can just use a complete Picasso C3 rear subframe... 

advice appreciated or link to thread (yes i did search)
Also wanted to raise in an inch or two at the same time (will do the front with adjustable struts (or anything else better)

Will at some point add chunky tyres on some alloys

The rear axle (subframe) you would need would be from a Xsara Picasso as they had the same torsion bar rear axle as the M49 / M59 and some of them had rear discs.

The C3 Picasso is a different set up that uses coil springs.

As for raising the height of a torsion bar rear axle, that would involve relocating the torsion bar splines on both bars which is a lot easier said than done.

There are videos on Youtube showing repairing the rear axle, this covers torsion bar removal etc, take a look to get an idea of what is involved.

The handbrake cable setup will also be different on a disc brake axle I guess.
I'm still running on original axle on my multispace M49 but when it does fail I was thinking of replacing with a van axle from IM axles for better weight carrying.
Personally I find the rear drum brakes good and never needed to worry about them after I replaced worn out shoes maybe 4 years ago although they are fiddly with the automatic handbrake adjusters. I replaced one side at a time for reference.

Quite the opposite for me
Although I'd like the ride right a bit taller I would jump at the chance of an easy swap  b9 rear disks for drums- fewer moving parts exposed to the environment.
I had perpetual problems with sticking calipers and ended up replacing the whole lot including the pins and a full fitting kit.
Couple of years on and I see the one side has worn the new pads at an angle.

I admire the enthusiasm but It looks like a lot of headaches for not much reward
