G Tec oil £22 Is it suitable?

Hi folks,

As a new berlingo owner I'm just about to do my first oil and filters change.

I've just been to local pug dealer and was recomended,

Ultratec Gtec 2, 5/30 synthetic, GM-DEXOS2 / AECA C3

I have a 1.6 hdi 2007, before I go ahead I'm wondering if anyone else has used this and if it is suitable.

It seems like a very good price compared to other brands. I'm thinking it may be to good to be true.

I would try opie oils, they do good deals on 5L oil. :-)

10/40w is £18.50 for 5L. I know that of the top of my head.

Oh just remembered. Halfords have their offer on until 12th June. £17.50 for 4L Magnatec Castrol. :-)

Hi,

I did notice those deals but was bewildered by choice.

I'm now not sure about the difference between the C2 and C3 grades. I was asured that the C3 I have bought would be better for the turbo and the dpf etc.

Does anyone know if this is the case...?

TBH....I think that unless the oil is compatible with NORM PSA PEUGEOT & CITROEN B71 2290 it would be
unsuitable for use in your engine. There are several manufacturers who make a suitable oil and I have listed
them in a previous post. Use of the wrong oil is one of the main reasons for turbo failure in this engine.
It is a false economy IMHO to scrimp on oil quality.

Thanks Jeffers, I've read that thread, and compared the total mc3 with the ultratec gtec-2 I bought from the Peugeot dealer. The numbers match perfectly so I guess this oil is another one to add to the list for the hdi.

Just need to get round to changing it now....
