New Van Tyres

Ok, for the last time changing the tyre on my van, I opted to go down the cheap route, as I thought its only a van etc etc.

But after yet another serious no grip situation yesterday, I'm binning these cheapo Triangle thing that are fitted and buying some decent tyres.

Question is really what others have had fitted to their vans. I know you can buy loads of different good quality brands, but as I use my van purely for work, its always loaded up with stuff and carries quite a bit of weight.

Is its best to opt for a van specific tyre or go for one that's spec for standard cars but with the extra load option.

Been looking at the Conti Vanco contact 2 as factory fit on these were Vanco Contact. Even looked at the Michelin Agilis 51, but are they really worth paying nearly 90 quid a corner?

Any advice and view greatly welcome.

I've had Michelin energy on my van for two years, done around 25k the fronts are about ready for changing and the rears have about 5mm left, I carry a lot of weight, usually around 3 to 400 kilo. They have worn very evenly, t speed rating they are.

Don't suppose you know the load rating do you?

Just been for a look, 560kilo.

They are about £75 a tyre.

The rears are rubbish Chinese crap too. A few times the rears been wanting to start sliding.

They'll have to wait though as theres shed loads of tread left on them and can't justify binning them purely cos they're crap'

I still have the original Michelin Agilis tyres on my 2006 Enterprise van, admittedly they have only done about 16,000 miles and will probably need to replace 2 of them later this year. They have never given me any problems, always plenty of grip wet or dry, and managed to keep going through all the heavy /deep snow we had in the bad winters of 2 and 3 years ago. Cant fault them one little bit. Will probably try to find the same again when the time comes.

Wrong there lad. Even on a rear wheel drive its more front than rear.

Why do ya think most cars will wear fronts a lot faster than rears.

Like motorbikes cornering its 70% front 30% rear
