It would appear that on my van, if any load (no matter how insignificant) is left on the battery for 20 minutes, the vehicle electronics automatically protects the battery by switching everything off; Good idea in many respects but can be a dam nuisance and very annoying when the the load is small and the battery is healthy.
Would it not have been a better idea to have the ECO MOD kick in relative to battery voltage, lets say it kicks in when the voltage drops below 12.3 volts (still enough to start it up) Then if anyone who regularly sat for a few hours with interior lights on and radio playing etc, they could simply install a bigger heavier duty battery.
This 20 minute then every thing switched off is plain stupid. After your 20 minutes is up you could start the engine for 2 seconds then sit another 20 minutes!

If memory serves, the time interval can be set to a different value with a Lexia. I remember seeing that menu item although I left mine at 30 min.

I believe this can be adjusted up to 90 minutes via Lexia.

Iv my switched live wired to the electric windows so it never goes off with eco mode
Funny think about eco mode wipers won't work but electric windows stay on

I'm contemplating running a fused feed from the battery to a socket in the cabin. Quite often when we go camping we either run a light in the tent off an inverter attached to the battery or just sit in the car and read when it's dark.

The Mk 2 Desires had 2 permamently live sockets one in each of the rear "flight lockers" in the modutop roof.
Oh, I didn't know that. Thanks. That'll solve the problem of the phone charger too (too complicated to go into now).

True but if all you're running is an 11W CFL bulb which provides something close to 60 or 80 W equivalent they're fine. Yes I know they're sometimes less efficient at low loadings but even if it drops to 50% efficiency it's only a couple of amps. The battery should take that without becoming too flat to start the engine.
