Hi everybody and thanks too for all your comments. Going today to have a look at a red metallic 1.9L forte diesel with 83K 53 reg at a garage locally for £2995.
I'm still thinking about the Sandstone (Desire, 1.6i, petrol) one with only 18k at £3995 but the colour doesnt exactly thrill me! lol

The Sandstone one should be almost like new with only 18,000 miles and being a "Desire" will have a better spec. It is probably worth looking and driving both as a comparison as there are pros and cons to both petrol/diesel. I agree that Sandstone is not the nicest colour!

Hi Bongobetty. I'm an ex bongo owner so know where you're coming from. I used to have a 1.4 petrol bingo and now have a 1.9 diesel. My personal opinion would be to go for a 1.6 HDI desire with all the bells and whistles i.e. air-con, modutop etc.
You should be able to find a nice example for your budget. I did like my Bongo but it was not without it's expense, only having 1 vehicle available for personal use made a Bongo V expensive whereas the Bingo is great for everyday use and a great utility vehicle.
Have Fun!
BTW: Sandstone not the nicest colour but it hides the dirt very well! Shame the dirt dosen't hide the bashes and scrapes on mine.
