Oil & STOP warning lamps
#1
Hi

wonder if you could shed some "light" (haha!) on this

Just got myself a 1.4 Petrol Berlingo Van and have noticed that the oil warning light and the stop light are not working.
I didn't notice until my mate asked me if they worked.
He has a 1.9 Diesel Partner and has had the same issue.
He checked the switch, wiring, replaced the instrument panel (which ended up adding 20k to his odo!) and gave up. He put a separate oil light in.

Does anyone have and ideas on this?

Hi, Looking at a diagram for a Dw8B engine, the stop and oil pressure lights are connected together.
Make sure that the wire/plug has not dropped of the switch in the engine bay.
Do you get the oil level indicators on your odometer when you first put your ignition on?

Hi all.

Did you have any joy with this Kkynaston? I appear to have a similar issue:

1.6Hdi Berlingo 2007.
Oil warning and stop lights flash along with beeping intermittently when in motion - mostly when going up hill or general changes of momentum.
I had the oil sensor changed which fixed it for 4 months but then it came back. The oil pressure has been checked and is ok. There are no error codes. Have had the oil changed and filter changed and the filter in the sump changed. There is no sludgy build-up in the sump.

I am now 170 quid down and pretty peeved.

Any help would be greatly appreciated...

Thanks,

Jon

I stumbled across this  post whilst looking for an answer as i noticed my oil light does not come on when i turn the ignition on before i start the car. So far i have carried out these checks...

Oil pressure sender is closed circuit whilst engine is stopped and opens as soon as its starts

Oil light illuminates whilst using Lexia to check dash board lights

Using a short piece of wire to link the socket that attaches to the oil sender with an earthed bolt on the engine, the oil light remains off until a few seconds after the engine is started. The oil light then illuminates and the stop light flashes whilst beeping.

From this I can only assume the oil light on these cars aren't  suppose to illuminate before the engine starts as per every other car I've driven......

Any comments?
