Hi, I have a 1997 diesel Berlingo Combi, according to vehicle papers the engine is D-D9B. Unfortunately due to running out of refrigeration liquid abruptly it has blown the head gasket. A mechanic has suggested replacing the current engine with a reconditioned one, or maybe from a breaker's.
I would be interested to know what choice of engines there is, maybe from Xantia or Peugeot Partner, if anyone has experience with this problem.

alut:
was the engine from a ZX, on the basis that it was newer, and had done much less hard labour. It should be pointed out that this engine comes with a Bosch injector rather than the shoddy one my van originally had, and thus makes for a vast improvement in fuel consumption and performance at low revs. The clutch from the ZX was also installed as there was a difference in plate size assembly.
