MOT RIP?
#1
The UK MOT is set to be replaced with the EU Road Worthiness Tests.

Over and above the UK's MOT it will more stringently test emissions, noise, brake fluid and anti-theft devices. Re-testing rules will also change depending on the category of failure. The proposals also cover inspections of transmission and engines for 'illegal modifications'

So what?
These things are usually the icebergs tip - left unchecked you end up needing a certified technician just to change a light bulb for you(Mk2 headlamps already do..Wink)

Time to get behind a lobby organisation and push back methinks
I have BMF membership so I know Im doing my bit.
It is on my to do list.
But not right at the top

I thought the euro test was not going to be implemented. If it is,to the barricades brothers. The BMF do a better job than the AA & RAC put together.Must build a Berlingo bike.

I own a handful of old vehicles -aside the road tax concession (fragile given the current climate) will the upcoming pre-1960 MOT exemption now be revoked?
It is on my to do list.

I thinks that's still at the discussion stage, the feeling is that classic vehicle owners are a bit OTT with maintenance, making them safer tham vehicles owned by plebs.
