Intermittent radio/cd fault
#1
Hi,
2.0 HDI Enterprise Van 55 plate

A week or so ago the dash radio display went dull for a few seconds, then the Engine management light came on and the radio went off - car still running OK. I stopped and turned off the ignition waited a few seconds, then all fired up OK - radio included. Since then the radio/cd works only now and then - during a trip it will cease to function after some minutes and then come back on later without any buttons being pressed.
Is there some sort of master reset to be done and is the radio coded if I disconect the battery - I have no code with the van. I bought it in 2007 with 13k on the clock and it now has 48K with no problems up until now.
Regards,
Ian

Hi, there's no code on radio (if it's original) it's matched to your Vin No. so you can dis/reconnect if you want.
Sounds like a bad connection somewhere, check your connector at the back of the set, and if possible the earth connection which is under the center console near the gearstick.

Don't forget to do the Bsi shut down / restart procedure.Confusedalut:

Many thanks for the info, especially the BSI shut down/restart. I'll put every available man on the job immediately - That'll be just me then! I think the connector and earth are likely suspects - the Van sleeps out and here in Orkney we occasionally get weather!

Ian

Bsi - Basic System Interface.
It's a reboot for the control of the vehicle system, see the link in the previous post.

Checked and sprayed Radio/CD contacts with cleaner and lube, removed earth, cleaned and lubed. Bsi reset done and all is fine (Today!) Many thanks for the help! I love this van but hate the over complication - anyone got an Austin A60 Van for sale - they were nice and simple!
Regards,
Ian
