I was depressed to see that our local garage added 3p a litre onto petrol and diesel prices today, leaving unleaded at 130.9 and diesel at 136.9
This is becoming a joke now, when will enough be enough?

I heard the prices are meant to rise to at least around £1.50 per litre this year sometime, sorry don't know when but I've heard it on more than one occasion
Last price I saw was at waitrose yesterday at 130.9 for me (diesel)

as much as I agree I am glad I got rif of my vw camper, 15mph petrol and 30 mpg on lpg, so at 49 mph in my berlingo I am making the most of what I spend.

must admit, I take the roof bars off my Berlingo now during the week to try and save a drop or two...
Will the price come back down once the dust has settled in Libya? I somehow doubt it!

It's certainly not going to fall any time soon. Oil prices were at $80/barrel a year ago, today c. $112 and until there is calm and stability in N. Africa and the Middle East they are likely to remain high. The current prices are in fact relatively low (believe it or not), as Sterling over the last has gained against the Dollar by around 8% If the Pound falls back to those levels then oil (and thus petrol/diesel) is going to get yet more expensive just because of the currency movement (as oil is all priced in USD)
On top of this is the 1p/litre of extra duty due to come in to effect next month. This is all against the backdrop that we are talking about a finite resource that is increasingly in demand and increasing expensive to produce.
Still there's always public transport

If everything seems to be going well, you have obviously overlooked something.

Its depressing to talk about, but you made a good point i didnt think about, exchange rates. You could say we are benefiting from a weak dollar at the moment, but we don't feel this because of already high price of oil, and the turmoil in the Middle East.
I did not know about the 1p increase next month, rather wish you didnt tell me!
I think it might be a good idea if we, as a forum, have a map on which we can mark all biodiesel and lpg stations we know of. I know there are alternatives out there, but i think more people will be considering these options and our own little resource might be a nice addition.
