I've not asked the dealer yet, but have seen it written on the forum somewhere that it is schedualed at 150,000 miles for the 1.6HDI (Not sure I'd risk that!). Mines coming up to 75k and I'm thinking of getting it done. Would people reccomend getting it done at citreon, or is it a lot cheaper at independant garages?

I bought my Berlingo 2004 with 90,000 on the clock. The cam belt was high on the to do list. I am glad I did it, on inspection it was not in a good state and could not have gone much further. Just letting you know my personal experience, and a real world example. Judging by the belt I would say to be safeish 70 or 80 thou wouldnt be too soon given the consequences of it failing.

You have to bear in mind the 1.9 & HDi engines are totally different.

How can the interval be so long, I mean its just a glorified elastic band.

Think I will half it and do it around 70,000 maybe.

serious enquiry ron, how does it make a difference? I am always interested in increasing my knowledge, so if it isnt too involved could you explain? Doesnt the belt degrade at roughly the same rate? Excuse please, my ignorance.

I always thought it was 50,000 as standard on most cars.
Now an ex Berlingo owner, I have a C4
2010 (B9) Berlingo Multispace XTR HDi 112 - Kyanos Blue
Previously - 2002 (M49) Berlingo Multispace 2.0 HDi Diesel - Arctic Steel

The new generation belt have kevlar & other high tec ingredients.
Also the pulley profiles are changed to reduce friction/heat build up.
Glorified elastic band they definately ain't.
