Brake Load Sensor!!!!

The van failed it's MOT yesterday and one of the problems was the rear Brake Load sensor........ The MOT guy said that a spring on the sensor linkage has broken, therefore I have no rear brakes........ I just wondered if anybody had encountered this problem before and if so, how they rectified it?

£100 + vat for new sensor so would prefer not to go down that route. Plus the MOT guy said that it could possibly be 'Bodged' by replacing the spring. Apparently you can't just buy the spring, so just wondered how, if at all, we could overcome the problem?

Bloody Hell! your certainly going through the wars!
Have a look at this, This is the load compensator showing the spring that's missing or broken.

The Green arrow is where the spring usually wears out, The red arrow is the pivot points what usually seize up. :thumbsup:

Yeah mate, it seems to be one thing after another at the minute. I'm just trying not to think about my corroded rear brake pipes and slantly back wheels. Getting fed up to be honest! But just going to have to tackle one problem at a time.

I've been assured that it's the spring shown in your pic that has broken. God only knows where I might get a replacement or something similar.

Hi,Try a garden machine shop,they are a good source of the wierd & wonderful.Measure the distance first.Good luck.

Can't you use a fine flamed blow lamp, remove the spring, make off another eye to fit the bracket by heating and bending and re-temper the spring afterwards, may have to move the adjustment at the opposite end to compensate for length of spring.

Where have you tried, surely the proper main dealer should have the item on their parts computer and also might be worth trying your local Peugeot dealer as well....

You didn't used to work at the pit did you???? We used to do all sorts of makeshift repairs like that all the time....

Machine maintenance is my bag, when you aint got the parts you have to make do with what you've got!

We managed to re-use the old spring in the end. But just in case anybody has this problem in the future and the spring can't be re-used this link might be useful
