Just inherited a berlingo with problems

Hi there,
Nice to find a forum on berlingos. I just got a works van for my business that the previous owner had kept till 2 days ago. No surprise that the vans mot ran out on the very day he gave it to me but didn't tell me until today.

It's a 1999 berlingo but has had a engine change at some point.
Couple of things that I need help with to start:

The rear wiper on the near side doesn't work but will go if you 'help' it, can I dismantle it an grease it up or is it better to just replace?

Central locking, if I press the fob it locks the rear and drivers doors but not the passenger door. If I lock the drivers door with the key it does the same as before. If I lock the passenger door with the key it locks all the doors, is it the central locking in the passenger door that it replace?

I need a guide to wiring the stereo, I put in a new head unit yesterday but when I pulled out the old one the wires were just twisted together very cowboy. I need a wiring diagram with the colours of the original wires as I want to wire in a switched live so it goes off with the ignition.

If I steam clean the engine bay is this ok, the previous owner said it is better to keep it dirty as this is where the berlingo rots?

Finally, has anyone fitted HID lights before and any problems as I have a set ready to go in but won't fit them until the above question is answered.

Re wiper motor, on our 1.4 Multispace I did strip it down but it was too worn to repair.

Just remembered another problem, the heater will only blow on the highest setting. Is there a cure for this?

The heater will be the resistor pack there is plenty on here about it and about 15 quid to fix. Have a search on here. Good luck with the van and welcome to the forum.

Ok sorted out the central locking and the heaters. Any wiring diagrams and can I clean the engine??

What was the central locking fix?
As for steam cleaning the engine, it is fine as long as you cover any electrical bits (with a bin bag etc.) and don't get too close with the high temp/pressure. Spray some degreaser on the oily bits first. And be careful. Remember, water and sensitive electrics don't mix. illyme:
As for more possible corrosion under bonnet? Not heard that before...

Hi there it was the central locking unit in the passenger door was full of water so I ordered one from a breakers yard, arrived tonight just going to fit it in the next hour but it has gone dark.

Also discovered that the gunk in the front wings is underseal.
