door locking
#1
the offside rear door on my 2007 Berlingo will not unlock. Previously it wouldn't lock with the key fob so we had to put down the child proof lock but now we can`t open the door at all. very inconvenient? anyone any ideas? Thanks, Mik

very many thanks for replying but I am at a loss to see why petrol cap would affect it. the petrol cap unlocks with the key as normal. please send more info if you think it useful. Best, Michael

There is an interlock. When you remove the fuel cap, it operates a switch which in turn prevents the O/S rear door being opened.

This is to stop someone opening the door into a fuel nozzle.

It may be that the switch is faulty.

The best way to test it is to open and remove the locking fuel filler cap then replace it. This worked for someone a week or two ago.

Thanks. Have tried this after a previous reply but not worked so far. Will try it again.

This problem was a usual on Renault kangoos so when you took the fuel cap off the door would lock but it used to play up stopping that door locking or being locked all the while. On the renaults the switch in question was mounted inside the car up next to the filler neck and had a micro switch or reed switch. Some people just bypassed it or repaired it. I bet citroen use the same system, sorry I can`t be of more help.
Are we there yet????? Huh
