Anti roll bar links

Hi,

These need replacing again (the previous owner has changed these twice), but my local motor factors had two types available - one with a metal link and one with a plastic link. Has anyone tried the plastic type and any thoughts on which one will last longest?
I know they are not expensive but they do not seem to last long, may be due to roads being more pot hole than tarmac!
