Any one changed wheel bearings?
#1
I think my wheels bearings are starting to go.

I can hear a sort of friction noise at times, particularly going up motorway slip roads. It's not particularly loud yet, but suspect the bearings are on their way out.

It's not something I have ever done before as a DIYer and I've not yet checked the Haynes, but are they easy enough to replace on the driveway on jacks??

Find out if it is the bearings or shoes/pads just rubbing. Confusedcratch:

Front w/bearings NO! unless you've a hydraulic press in the boot.

You could remove the front hubs and take to a local friendly garage who has one.

Rear w/bearings ,, Possible , with a copper/brass drift and big hammer.

It is coming from the front and is unlikely to be the pads as I only changed the disks and pads myself fairly recently, unless the piston is knackered. Braking seems spot on though.

So fronts are garage job? That's fine, at least I know to not bother getting my hands messed up! Smile

I've owned 2 B59 Berlingos, and when the wheel bearings started to play-up through wear, the sound was always like my van was being pulled down the road by a large aircraft propeller mounted on the front of it! I had a haynes manual, but never tackled the job myself, preferring to let a garage renew them and the cambelt at the same time.

as brodfather said it can be done by knocking it out,but you have to knock it out squarely,i used 35m from a ratchet set and a lump hammer, good luck
