Interior & exterior LEDs
#1
Wanted abit more lights inside the taxi, bought 501 led bulbs & done this

They look blue, but they are actually pure white, nice & clean

Reg plate bulbs

Side lights

The light output on them is brilliant, really brightens up the interior & the exterior ones freshen up the outside.

Did mine last year, and you're right, looks cool and a big improvement.
Done number plate light, too.
And sidelights.

Check out my thread 'LED load space lights'.
Pictures are better than the sidelights one above.

Beware of LED stop/tail lamps though. Some do NOT have enough differential light output
for a following driver to distinctly see the brake lights when the tail lights are on.
My MoT tester took them out and fitted normal lamps so it passed with no advisories.
The Older I get the Better I Was!  Cool

I have LED stop/tail lights (the 360 degree variety) and the 'stop' part will burn your corneas if you look at it for too long! Definate difference between stop and tail. Passed MOT no problem few weeks ago.

I've put 3 HGV LED marker lights on the ceiling cross member of my van and the back now lights up great. I wired them into the curtesy light so they come on with the doors.

When the 501 type LED bulb first came out about 8 years ago I put some in place of my parking lights on my Combo van. They looked cool, (unlike today as everyone under 25 has them in their Saxo along with a big exhaust etc, etc.) but were unreliable & used to flicker on and off. So I wouldn't bother with retrofitting them for the legally required lights, they are expensive and unnecessary
