Hi
Just read all posts related to glow plugs and it seems i'm lucky every thing lights up and stays on as it should but still having trouble starting and when it does lot of white smoke, possibly unburnt diesel?
gonna change glow plugs but can't see how to remove plastic air intake manifold to gain access, took out 2 allen bolts on rear but it don't move. Motor factors said there are 2 types, so got to get one out to match it.
Anyone done this? any other tips greatly received.
thanks to all. Terry

what engine do you have ?
The manifold on mine has 4 bolts holding the plastic air ducts to the engine, remove them and it almost falls off. xud engine
The son in laws has something the same but we had to use a long lever and a bit of force to overcome the o rings seated in the manifold (after removing the bolts) before we could get it off. dw engine

there are two more set into the manifold either side of the injectors, 4 bolts in total. Be careful removing all the electrical bits from under the egr too, they are easily broken!!

Thanks for the advice guys, i will look at it again tomorrow, i suspect it was just the 'O' rings hanging on, didn't want to force it in case i'd missed something.
I hope glow plugs are the problem, my neighbours must have thought it was foggy when i left this morning!

Had problems recently myself with starting. My glow plug light came on as normal and could hear the relay click so all seemed fine with the plugs!?
Wrong- i had 3 out of 4 plugs burnt out.
If you dont know the last time they were changed i would put my money on it been them. your symptoms sound very much like mine did.

Thanks to all previous posts for their help, once i found the 2 bolts i'd missed set into manifold, didn't lean over far enough to see them! Manifold off, glow plugs out. At least 2 maybe 3 look dodgy. have found EGR valve and intake manifold full of oily gunk so now in the process of removing intake manifold from engine to clean it out I suspect this could be the beginning of the end. 160,000 hard miles takes it's toll on both of us,
Struggling with manifold at moment, undone six bolts(2 only finger tight) think it must be stuck by gasket. serves me right for having a monday off!!

Still stuggling! does anyone know what size the bolts holding EGR pipe onto the exhaust manifold are, think they are hex and 5mm to loose 6mm to big, could they be 5.5mm also took 6 nuts from metal intake manifold still holding on is there 1 more, looks like a hex bolt in the middle at the bottom. its almost impossible to see from above any ideas
