Stop Light Flashing on the Dash
#1
I was coming into work this morning and I heard a beep, looked down and seen the 'STOP' light was flashing on and off, plus the hand brake light was on constent.

I checked the brakes (as the hand brake light was on) and all seemed fine. As I only had a few miles to go to work I carried on and this situation lasted for the few miles to work and just as I was about to pull in the light went out and everything seemed to go back to normal.

What was that all about??

Note that I have had some issues with the Fuel Pressure Sensor Switch and the engine management light is on at the minute.

Could be wrong, but...
Check the brake fluid resevoir.
Did it start when going round a corner, or uphill, or braking suddenley?
The brake fluid may be low.
Worth a look. Confusedcratch:
Someone else had a similar issue, but can't find the thread.

I topped up the fluid but it only needed a very small amount and it seamed to sort the issue out. However it didn't sort it for long and the lights came back on, plus the fluid level seams OK...

Anybody got any other ideas?? Everything seems to work OK and the lights only come on for a few miles before it goes out again...

I had this on mine after some brake work, the garage did some dianostics etc and came up with zilch. Then found that there are 2 fluid resivours and the bottom one was not topped up, when this was topped up prob solved.

Two thoughts. Firstly if the fluid is down it must have gone somewhere. I had a similar issue and one of the rear brake cylinders was leaking. Secondly I have had similar problems in other cars and it has been down to one of the brake switches on the brake pedal.

logical
pad/lining wear could have also taken up fluid - is there a stuck or binding one.
Is there a wear sensor doing its job (or trying too hard )
It is on my to do list.
But not right at the top

Thanks for the replies, firstly the fluid levels seemed OK and I only topped it up by a very small amount to try it out, but it obviously something else wrong. I'll have to have a look at the items mentioned...
