Our cat went out earlier and hasn't come back ....

He'll be a bit housebound when for a few days I'll imagine. Silly bugger.

We have 2 dogs which have been de sensitised to noise.Have a word with your vet.Ours are 1 retired Guide Dog,& 1 rejected Guide Dog.
We walked 12 puppies for them & learnt how to do this.
You can get CD's which you play at increasing volume, but a lot of it is your reaction to the noise.Don't fuss them when they are frightened as this helps to reinforce the fear.
Act normally & distract with game/toys.
look up DAP pheremones which give out the scent of mother dogs.

You're welcome. The trouble is that it's no longer a 1 day event, then with Haloween & New Year as well it does make sense for all dog owners to de sensitise their dogs. Our first dog, many years ago, would hide in the bath shaking like a jelly.Distressing for all concerned.

Gets worse every bloody year- louder and lasts for what seems an eternity-cats hate them. switched all garden lights on etc. to try to minimise some of the flashes / bangs :brickwall::brickwall::brickwall:

Got a Irish rescue Springer here and she is s**t scared of them and is shaking and quivering under the bed as I type. Bloody fireworks should be banned in peoples back gardens end of.
Other 2 are not bothered but youngest is a bit worried but not overly.

The cat came in about an hour ago after the worst had passed.

Steel kahunas. Was sauntering about like nothing was going on.

Desensitised cats are good.
