Replacement stereo head unit.
#1
Hi all,

I have a 2003 '53 plate Mark 2 model.

It still has the original Citroen head unit fitted, but I am hoping to change it.

Is it possible to fit an after market head unit, i.e. Sony or Alpine? only it looks rather fitted at the moment and I can't see how another one would fit.

Could even go for a double din model, if possible.

I changed mine no problem.

You may need to buy some keys of Ebay to remove the old one. They slot into the 4 holes to release it.

And will a standard single din head unit fit exactly where the factory fit one comes out Tucker? Or will I need a retro fit frame?

Yes it should be the same size as an aftermarket one, although the new one will come with a metal slieve that you will need to put into the gap and bend the grips to form a solid base.

Is the old one like this or the cassette version of it?

It's the cassette version.

Do you reckon a double din head unit would be suitable?

I have no idea how double din ones install or if they can be installed into a standard old sized head unit space, so I really couldn't say.

It looks unlikely given that you have the switches directly above and below the standard unit, but probably best finding a pdf copy of the fitting instructions for one on line and seeing what size gap is required?
