Fuel system cleaners

I realise there not to everyones liking, but i use a product called BG244 every couple of months in all my diesel motors (2 Berlingos, 2 Merc Sprinters & a Ford Galaxy). I swear by the stuff and have found it to benefit all my vehicles. In smoother running, more power, better mpg and less smoke under load. Everyone who i've told about it and then theyve gone on to try it has noticed positive improvements.

As far as my MkII 1.6HDi goes it definitely benefits from a dose of Miller's additive when I fill up. It feels smoother and returns slightly better fuel consumption.

If product like this truly worked and offered the descibed improvements, it would be part of the additives included before the fuel reaches the forecort.

Possibly, but think how much money is made by not including these additives in the fuel :whistle:

The engine will run more smoothly because the additive will increase the the cetane number in the fuel & shorten ingnition delay on compression stroke. This is why engines appear to run more smoothly on branded diesel with additives than supermarket diesel with no additives. Whether additives have more benefit than that I do not know. Possibly it produces a cleaner exhaust which might help preserve dpf.

You were hinting at a conspiracy, its traditional to compare it to the guys who sit at home with tinfoil hats on, because they think the Government is reading their thoughts! ;-)
