Wiper Problems
#1
Can anyone tell me my problem, the only way i can get my wipers to work,is first go to fast wipe then come back to medium wipe, and intermitten wipe only works occassionally and if it does decides to work its about six intermitten wipes then stops, any any help would be appreciated.

Cheers

Colin...if your wiper system works like mine the first position, which on many cars functions just as intermittent wipe, fixed speed, is actually the 'automatic' position for rain-sensitive operation. In this position the wipers will operate at what they sense is the correct speed until the screen is clear enough for them to automatically change to intermittent, or stop altogether. Could be time to get the book out and check - you may not actually have a fault.

Pidgeonpost,Many thanks for the reply, had a look through the book before posting,if you go straight to the middle operation which is medium wipe it wont work,so what i have to do is go to fast wipe at the top and back to the middle again to get medium wipe to work.

First thing to try would be a BSI reset

Hi, I had similar fault. Put the wiper on the continuous 1st speed. When it doesn't work try pushing the stalk to-wards the windscreen or away and see if it starts.
If it does you have a faulty stalk. The poxy contacts on the internal switch wear out. Confusedalut:

Hi Colin....sorry, thought you may have been a bit mystified by the wiper behaviour as I was when I first got our Berlingo. Hopefully you'll now get it sorted thanks to other posts.

Mine were doing this too, but whilst checking something else out I found a loose earth write in the engine bay fuse box, reconnected and wipers are back to normal. Maybe a coincidence but could be work a try for the op.

Been told by a auto-electrician that he is certain that its the motor, anyone on the forum know which motor it is as there is two different types for the 2001 year, which side of the motor does the electric cable plug in -right or left side.

Best take the scuttle off to make sure.

Wiper went on my mk1, it's an easy job to do.
