Stereo head units.....
#1
Been looking arond for a replacement head unit that will:

1. Operate my Iphone music via USB
2. Give handsfree phone calling

Looked at Pioneer, Alpine and Sony.

Anybody offer any advice on a decent unit.

Not wanting to spend a fortune, but would like a unit that offers the above with style

Just to add, look for an Alpine headunit that will fit your budget.

I got the Alpine iDA x-305 a couple of years ago, fairly pricey then but the quivalent model has come down in price a bit. Basically it allows you to control your ipod via the headunit. Brilliant.
I'm not clued up on the handsfree side of things, it does it but I never use it, I think with a lot of headunits you have to buy an adapter add-on.

Things to remember when upgrading the headunit in the Blingo...

- The clock/display won't show the radio station as before.
- The steering column audio controls won't work (unless you buy another adapter)
- You may need to switch the red/yellow wires around to allow the headunit to retain it's "memory"
- You'll soon realise how turd the citroen speakers are.

Thats looks beautiful enough to be way out of my budget...

I know my Dad swears by Alpine, so will look around to see what dosh these are selling for right now. Nice to know it does handsfree

Another one for Alpine, I swear by them and have had loads over the years.
Funnily enough, the older ones are better quality wise but don't have the features of the newer models.

Ive got a double din one in my RS4 with touch screen, cd changer, ipod connection, sat nav with speed camera alerts, freeview tv, hands free calls and bluetooth streaming

I've taken a bit of a punt on a JVC unit for the 306, after going through pretty much all that is out there on paper.

Had everything I wanted, bluetooth for 2 phones, rear usb, sd-card, didn't want CD, fitted my budget of £150.

If at all possible go for an Alpine, i've always had hassle of one sort or another with sony, jvc etc etc but Alpine is just plug and play and sound the best!
